MPlayer is available for both windows and linux, and plays pretty much any audio and most video formats on the planet if appropriate codecs are installed.

I haven’t tried in on windows, but for Linux it pretty much is _the_ mediaplayer.

21|Aug|2007 41. Mozilla’s Sunbird Calendar is a great program. It adheres to the iCal standard and calendars can be exported and subscribed to… the only thing that would make this product more widely accepted would be to offer a way to interface with MS Exchange… But, WebDAV is cross-platform and we’re trying to get away from MS products anyway, right?
2. Winamp is a great alternative media player for MS Windows boxes as is XMMS for *nix boxes.
3. Flickr or Photobucket for digital image storage/organization/sharing
